Things to Do
Padre
Burgos is rapidly growing a reputation for world class scuba diving and snorkeling. Sogod
Bay is one of the few places anywhere in the world where the magnificent whale sharks can be seen reliably and a day tour snorkeling in the company of the world's largest fish is an experience of a lifetime. The coral 'house' reef in front of the private beach is one of the prime areas for snorkeling in Sogod
Bay with an abundance of marine life and a multitude of different hard and soft corals. Compared with most other diving and snorkeling destinations, Padre Burgos offers remarkably undisturbed reefs and a very low volume of divers enjoying the crystal clear, sheltered water against a backdrop of green forested mountains. Padre Burgos
Castle Resort is an excellent choice of accommodation for scuba divers, who can enjoy luxury and superb service without compromising their diving experience in any way. We work closely with all the local dive shops, providing free return transportation and offering a range of diving packages.
In addition to the wonderful underwater world, Southern Leyte offers a wealth of visitor attractions and activities including sailing, dolphin and whale watching, boat trips to secluded beaches, caving, hiking, tours into the mountains, visits to historic sites and churches and wonderful insight into the life and culture of the Visayan people. A short boat ride from the Resort lies Limasawa
Island, which boasts the site of the first Christian mass in the Philippines in addition to wonderful beaches, superb diving and snorkeling and a delightfully peaceful and unhurried atmosphere. Learn more.
Where We Are
The island of Leyte lies in the Eastern Visayas, sitting roughly at the centre of the Philippine archipelago. The region is famed for colourful festivals, wonderful seafood, fertile valleys, lush forests, palm-fringed beaches, abundant wildlife and a rich history dating back 5 centuries. Padre Burgos is situated in the south-western corner of Sogod
Bay in Southern Leyte and is a small agricultural and fishing community still well off the mainstream tourist trail. Access is easy from international airports or other parts of the Philippines - see Arrival.

Who We Are
David & Delia Warren are a husband and wife team who own and run Padre
Burgos
Castle Resort. David is of Scottish descent, brought initially to South East Asia by business interests. Delia is a Filipina originating from Bohol, close to Leyte, and worked in Singapore where we met and married. Repeated visits throughout the Philippine archipelago eventually led us to Southern Leyte. We fell immediately in love with the Castle and with the wonderful location, both of which we are proud to promote. Together we understand the requirements of discerning guests and have intimate knowledge of the local traditions, language and culture.
