Environmental Policy

Our aim is to promote Southern Leyte as a visitor destination, enhancing the economic well-being of the area in a way which preserves both the natural environment and the culture and values of the local people. We work closely with the Planning & Development Department in the Municipality of Padre Burgos and maximise the use of local skills, products and produce. The architectural design of the Castle and its headland position mean that the communal areas are always cool, obviating the need for air conditioning. The bedrooms provide air-conditioning and also have opening windows allowing guests to manage their own environment responsibly. We recycle rainwater for domestic use whenever possible. All refuse is segregated and disposed of according to best practice. We maintain the beach adjacent to the Castle, we pay a voluntary levy to the barangay to help them maintain the local public beach and we actively support the marine sanctuaries in Padre Burgos.
